Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Uncle Sam appears, wearing a barrel labeled U.S. debt $300 billion. He is holding a sheet of paper with a list of post-war goals. End Lend-Lease is checked off. Attlee and Churchill, both very short compared to Uncle Sam, beat on the barrel with clubs of protests and criticisms. They tell Sam he cant end Lend-Lease because it will embarrass Britain terribly. Knechts elephant says that was understood--with the end of fighting that the Lend-Lease program would come to an end as well.
Uncle Sam (Symbolic Character); Attlee, C. R. (Clement Richard), 1883-1967; Churchill, Winston, 1874-1965
