Gus told me to see you. ? I got a pack with cellophane on it. Cellophane? Where were they hiding? None. Naturally old and regular customers and friends come first. Psst! Lucille--Psst. Why I thought that was the name of a liquor. Emmy lets--. Johnny Walker and Smellorinos is all we have. Brands one never noticed before. Whats that black end? That my dear is a butt! I smoke part, put it out, save it, and relight it later. Back to rolling your own. Oh! Dear Ill never get it. Why dont they ration them? Its too bad itll drive them to this. We can expect snitching butts from hotel and theater lobby containers. And curb snipers. One can quit. [in margins: 20th. 10th December. Courier. 3 column. 11/10/44]
