Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Spring arrives both in the United States and in the war zone. Top: Spring, in the form of a barefoot woman in a gauzy dress, runs to greet a man holding a trowel and seeds. He has a shovel and a hoe strapped to his shoulders and mud on his pants. The elephant is also gardening and says that a snow drop has been the first flower. Bottom: Spring stands still, looking horrified as a skeleton wearing a military uniform holds his arms out to her. The skeleton holds a bloody knife and a grenade and has blood on his pants. All around them are tanks, smoke from explosions, cross grave markers, and barbed wire.
