Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: A group of four teenagers, two girls and two boys, sit in the middle of a street in a chained-off area. Public walks down the sidewalk and comments that he could keep some young people out of mischief by giving them jobs. A woman in a factory uniform comments that she is needed for more and more war work. A car belonging to Governor Schrickers committee drives down the street; the committee supports changing the law to allow children 14-16 to work in safe jobs during school vacations for the duration of the war. 18 other states have changed their labor laws. On the other sidewalk, several signs advertise that manpower is short and that a job is available for a boy or a girl.
