Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: Public sits at a table under a calendar turned to March, with the 15th bolded. A 1942 income tax form sits on the table in front of him. He turns his head to read a newspaper headline reporting that Congress has abandoned the pay-as-you-go tax plan. A ghostly imp-like figure sticks his head around the corner to talk about the difficulty of filling out a tax form and to recommend using the 1040A form if possible.

And oh! boy--waitll you first-timers try to fathom that form--still baffling to old time tax payers and even stumps the expert accountants at times--so use the simpler 1040A form--if you can. March. Sunday. Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Thursday. 1 2 3 4 7 8 9 10 11 14 15 16 17 21 22 23 24 28 29 30. 1040 U.S. Income Tax 1942. All Pay-As-Go Tax Plans Abandoned. And it must be in by midnight March 15. If you cant pay send a letter, but report you must.
