Martin at the suggestion of stamp collections had the post office dept. change it. Around 400,000 pieces of mail from all over the world and will be sent in a year, to this post office to be post marked Santa Claus and then mailed from there. Extra help is hired by Uncle Sam each holiday season. Some companies specialize in selling articles which they then mail from Santa Claus, likewise letters or greetings are sent too, so that the postmark will read Santa Claus - As Postmaster James F. Martin of one of the smallest of communities a hamlet with a population of 65 yet he is one of the best known of all U.S.A. postmaster. Capt. Jeff Williams, donor of the big Christmas tree for the Courier and Journal party for poor children will get it from the 1/2 mile from Santa Claus In Slater, Mo. there is a minister named Santa Claus. He refused to commercialize his name. Believe it or not, once the famed Ripley of Believe It Or Not had a post card 6 ft. 3 1/2 ft. to be sent from Santa Claus address only with his name but postal men there wouldnt let it go through with such insufficient address. Additional postage spoiled the design Therere 21 people in the Evansville directory by the name of Christmas The stamps were arranged as to form a picture of Washington.
