Karl Kae Knecht Cartoon

Description: A heat wave hits Evansville. A group of people sit in an underground bomb shelter. A man with a thermometer says it is always 10 degrees hotter on the street than on the roof of a building where the official thermometer is. Think cool to keep cool--a boy thinks of an ice cube. A man soaks in the bathtub. A woman golfer is hot and sweaty, but says she would be hotter at home ironing clothes. A newspaper shows higher temperatures in several cities around the country. A man takes care of a horse.
