Arthur Feeney Davis and Ewan Glen McClain. Arthur Feeney Davis (November 20, 1902 - October 30, 1993) graduated from Central Normal College in Danville, Indiana in 1934. According to Find a Grave, he taught at Avon High School as a social studies and health teacher. He also coached basketball for 18 years (1930 - 1948) and was the first drivers education teacher in Hendricks County. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa social fraternity Danville, Indiana. Arthur married Gertie Bowden on December 22, 1930 and she preceded him in death in 1978. Arthur and Gertie had one son, Stephen Davis. Arthur Feeney Davis died at Eagle Valley Healthcare in Indianapolis. He was born in Danville, Indiana to Orlando and Sarah (Fulps) Davis. He is buried at the Danville South Cemetery in Danville, Indiana.Ewan Glen McClain (January 31, 1912 - February 10, 1992) was born to Glen R. (1884 - 1960) and Hazel (Ross) McClain (1885 - 1956). He married Dorothy P. Thomas (1920 - 2006) and they had one daughter, Madeline. Ewan Glen McClain siblings include: Eleanor Rhoda (McClain) Hamblen Whitmire and Max Ross McClain (May 18, 1918 - March 19, 1996). Ewan Glen McClains grandparents are: Rhoda Jane (Ritter) McClain (1843 - 1922) and Bascom Smith McClain (July 1840 - November 26, 1909).His obituary from the February 18, 1992 Brownsburg Guide: Ewan Glen McClain 80, Indianapolis, a retired teach and principal of Avon High School, died Monday February 10, at his home. Born January 31, 1912, he was the son of Glen R. and Hazel (Ross) McClain. Mrs. McClain, an Army veteran of World War II, was former principal and head of the English Department at Avon High School for 40 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Avon United United Methodist Church, Avon Optimist Club and Danville Masonic Lodge. Services were Thursday, February 13, in Conkle Funeral Home, Hendricks County chapel, Avon. Rev Tom Pitcher officiated, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Surviving are daughter, Madeline M. Carter, Indianapolis; sister, Eleanor M. Whitmire, Indianapolis; brother Max R. McClain Brownsburg; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. |
