Arthur Feeney Davis (November 20, 1902 - October 30, 1993) graduated from Central Normal College in Danville, Indiana in 1934. According to Find a Grave, he taught at Avon High School as a social studies and health teacher. He also coached basketball for 18 years (1930 - 1948) and was the first drivers education teacher in Hendricks County. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa social fraternity Danville, Indiana. Arthur married Gertie Bowden on December 22, 1930 and she preceded him in death in 1978. Arthur and Gertie had one son, Stephen Davis. Arthur Feeney Davis died at Eagle Valley Healthcare in Indianapolis. He was born in Danville, Indiana to Orlando and Sarah (Fulps) Davis. He is buried at the Danville South Cemetery in Danville, Indiana.According to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame website: Chet Francis graduated from Avon High School in 1936 and from Indiana University in 1941. He was inducted in to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986 and coached both basketball and baseball at Vincennes Lincoln High School, was a three-year performer at Indiana University, and a member of Indianas 1940 National Championship team; also 3-year letterman in baseball, as well as basketball, as a collegian, played professionally with Indianapolis Kautskys, following World War II service as a Marine captain and coached Vincennes Lincoln High School to 7 sectional championships and 2 regionals during a 10-year coaching career, with his teams making frequent appearances in the top 10.The photograph is the West Virginia High School Girls basketball team that Arthur Feeney Davis coached. |
