The fire station on the Circle, Indianapolis IN: The fire fighting bucket brigade of 1826 was absorbed with the formation of the Marion Fire Engine company in 1835. The state built a little one story house for it in 1836, but in 1837 the town built a two story frame structure on the north side of the Circle, providing ak room for the council on the second floor. The Company also then was renamed the Marion Fire Hose and Protection company. When the building burned in 1851, a large portion of the city records was lost. In the drawing, Joe Lawson is portrayed talking to a fireman. Drawn by Christian Schrader.
