Jones, Thomas vs Joseph Barron

Description:	A promissory note is signed by Joseph Barron on May 20, 1813 where he promised to pay Thomas Jones $696 bearing interest from the date for value received. Albert Badolet signed as witness. The Sheriff is commanded on May 26, 1815 to take Joseph Barron into court the first Monday of June next. He is to answer unto Thomas Jones on a plea that he render unto him the sum of $696 debt which he owes and unjustly detains. The action is brought on a note under seal, therefore bail is required for the sum of $696 per G. W. Johnston P.Q. Cost of services and return is listed as $.59 with call of action being $.09 per B. V. Beckes, Sheriff of Knox County. Beckes states he served writ on defendant Joseph Barron after which the plaintiffs attorney G. W. Johnston directed me to set the defendant at liberty. Beckes also states that he as attorney for the plaintiff would wave the bail required. A complaint was filed in the Circuit Court June term 1815 by Thomas Jones. Jones complains of Joseph Barron that he render unto him $696 with interest that he has owed to him since May 20, 1814. He asks for $200 in damages along with the debt owed per Johnston P. Q. Thomas Jones puts Johnston in his place on an action of debt against the balance of the note and interest of $7.41 with stay till October 15th accounts. A cost bill for $8.56 is filed for June 1815.
