This file contains the application of James Scott, assignee of the heirs of Michael Neaux, deceased, to divide his estate of 400 acres of land, number 27 in the Donation Lands granted to heads of families. Robert Elliott, Joseph Hollingsworth and John McDonald were appointed to determine the division of the estate. The application was signed by court clerk Robert Buntin during the May 1811 term. The division was ordered as follows: James Scott, assignee of William McIntosh, who was assignee of Michael Danis, to have 92 1/2 acres in the south corner of the estate; James Scott, assignee of William Henry Harrison, to have 46 1`/4 acres on the north west side; that Andrew Racine, known as St. Mary or St. Marie), assignee of William Henry Harrison, to have 46 1/4 acres on the south east side; (space left blank) to have 105 acres in the east corner; and (space left blank) to have 110 acres in the north corner. This document was signed by Robert Elliott, Joseph Hollingsworth, and John McDonald on August 8, 1811. The document was also signed by judge Daniel McClure on August 10, 1811. According to the Minute Book of the Court of Common Pleas, 1811-1817, page 413, the court ordered Robert Elliott, Joseph Hollingsworth and John McDonald to complete their division of the Neaux estate. Pages 432-433 indicate that Thomas Scott, assignee of John Danis was given 110 acres in the north corner and that (the other) heir or representative was to have the 105 acres in the east corner. Page 433 was signed by William McCall, associate judge of the Court of Common Pleas. |
