A recognizance bond is issued May 29, 1809 for Samuel Murphy and John Grayson of Knox County to come before Paul Castleberry, Justice of the Peace for Knox County and acknowledge themselves to the U. S. in the sum of $55 each. The bond is to be levied on their respective goods, chattels, lands and tenements if in default. The condition of the recognizance is that the above bound Samuel Murphy shall personally appear before the Court of Common Pleas judge the last Monday of July next and to keep the peace to all citizens especially George Naught. Witnessed by John Crunk, and Thomas Castleberry and signed by Samuel Murphy and John Grayson. The court records state that the recognizance was dismissed. |
