Description: A petition is filed November 1809 at the Court of Common Pleas against Zacharie Chicotte, who is a confessed prisoner in the jail of Knox County, Indiana on the suit of Thomas Jones. Zacharie Chicotte petitions to be entitled to the benefit of the act for the relief of persons imprisoned for debt. He asks to be discharged. A schedule of debts due by petitioner are Thomas Jones $200, Francis Bizallion $29.75, Jacques Roland $20, Jean Baptiste Laplant $8 for a total of $263.75. The amounts were allowed and court was adjourned until Saturday December 30, 1809.
