A petition to establish a ferry across the Wabash River at Thomas Levins instead of Mr. Ramseys is filed on June 30, 1809. The petitioners fell that Levins banks are much better and the water smoother than across the rapids opposite Mr. Ramseys and it is 1/2 mile below the rapids and much narrower. Petitioners were: Zachariah Selby, Jeremiah Selby, Nat Marness, Jonathan Purcell, William Barney, Eli Read Jr., Isaac C.
