Description: A summons is issued to the Sheriff to take James Adams to his jail and to court on the last Monday of November next to answer unto John McCandless on a plea of debt that he owes to him of $50 plus $50 in damages. The summons is dated August 18, 1807 and witnessed by R. Buntin, Clerk. On the reverse of the summons the cost of court listed is .90 1/2 cent with a debt of $50 and damages of $50 and bail is required. The summons was executed August 18, 1807 by P. Beckes, Sheriff with Peter Jones being charged with bail. A recognizance bond is filed asking that James Adams and Peter Jones are to be held firmly to Parmenas Beckes for the sum of $50 on August 22, 1807. Adams is to appear the last Monday in November next to answer unto John McCandless in a plea of debt and render to him $50 and $50 damages. The bond is delivered in the presence of Jacob Kuykendall and signed by James Adams and Peter Jones. John McCandless complains of James Adams in custody on a plea of trespass in the amount of $50 and damages of $50. The complaint is dated July 25, 1807 and they are to appear in court August 18, 1807. The complaint is signed by Johnston. John McCandless puts in his place General W. Johnston as his attorney in a plea of debt. A request is made by George Wallace and Company for a bill of cost. The request is signed by G. Wallace and Buntin. A cost of court bill is filed for $9.54 from November 7, 1807 to February 1808 and another cost of court bill for November 1807 to December 1807.
