Description: Civil court case in which John Askin & Co. brought suit against Joseph Chartier and his wife, Charlotte, executor and executrix of Joseph Ducharme, who was executor of Antoine Reneau. Askin was suing to recover $4,500 in damages. The case was brought over an unpaid promissory note made by Antoine Reneau in 1783. The note was in the amount of 8,228 livres and 10 sols, which was equal to $2,742 and 3/4 cents.
