Description: Account of the taxes collected by Benjamin Beckes for the township of Vincennes and the expenses paid out between November 6, 1797 through June 11, 1798. Tax collections for township of Vincennes between November 6, 1797 through May 5, 1798; $233 billed, received $138.25 with additional $48.10 in taxes on licenses. Expenses paid out between November 6, 1797 through June 11, 1798: $4.00 by order of Luke Decker two wolves heads; $18 by order of commissioner for clerk; $4.00 by order of commissioner for constable;$150 to John Small order of commissioner; $7.00 to George Leech, assessor, by order of commissioner; $2.00 paid to John Deveny by order of James Johnson; $2.00 paid to Soloman Teabaugh by order of James Johnson; $6.92 paid to Abraham Westfall, coroner. Also included, treasurers fee of $11.65, fee under an former law $7.50. Totaling $213.07
