Bill of Complaint for a Plea of Trespass filed by Jean Baptist Tabeau. On July 15, 1795 in Makinac, Jean Darguilleur signed a promissory note for Three thousand seventy-nine livers and six sols. antient shillings of Quebeck for value received of merchandise which has not been paid. November Term 1797: Jean Baptist had a Writ of Summons against Toussaint Dubois to answer to a Plea of Trespass for one thousand dollars. Witnessed by Pierre Gamelin. The Summons was returned by Christopher Wyant, Sheriff. Jury trial August Term 1798. Jurors: Joseph Baird, Renjamin Reed, Philip Dejon, Allen Ramsey, Jacob Thorn, John Blackburn, Pierre Latare, Nicholas Fortin, Laurient Jereu, John Rolins, Peter Fredrick and Louis Brazar. Attorney for Jean Baptist Tabeau was General W. Johnston while Toussaint Dubois had Henry Hurst for his attorney. We the jury find for the plaintiff five hundred and thirteen dollars and twenty-one cents with cost and charges for the case. |
