A $500 promissory note due in 12 months after the date payable to Margaret W. Scott administrator of Alexander D. Scott, deceased, is filed. The note is dated January 5, 1830 signed by William Price and D. C. Johnson was a witness. The note was filed May 18, 1839 by Wm. R. McCord. A sheet showing the amount of $195.73 due July 18 was filed. The dates that the note was due are listed as January 9, 1830 to July 18, 1832 plus interest and payments made. A figure worksheet was included. Samuel Alexander, administrator of Margaret files a Bill of Complaint. He complains to the court that William Price has not made any payments to the estate of Alexander D. Scott or to the estate of his late wife Margaret W. Scott. He also states that due to the death of Margaret W. Scott, he has been made administrator of the estate of Margaret W. Scott and he asks for $1000 in damages to be paid. Samuel Judah, attorney for the defendant, says the defendant has fully paid said amount of principal plus the interest and puts himself at the mercy of the court. The document is signed William Price and is filed May 18, 1839. William Price and George Simpson bound themselves into Samuel Alexander, administrator of Margaret W. Scott in the sum of $200 on June 4, 1839. William Price placed an appeal from Probate Court to the Circuit Court on an Action of Debt. The document was filed June 4, 1839 and bond was to be voided if William Price prosecuted his appeal. |
