Antoine Marshalls will presented for probate

Description: Isaac Blackborn is the attorney for Francis Tisdale and General W. Johnston is the attorney for Hyacinth Lassalle, R. Buntin is the court clerk. On May 15, 1816, Antoine Marshalls will is taken to the Knox County Clerk for probate. In it he states that he wants a Catholic service. He leaves his child Antoine into the care of his sister in law Francine Tisdale who he wishes to occupy his 3 room home S.E. of his dwelling house. He states she may use the kitchen and furniture as may be necessary in the raising of his son and the smokehouse and garden area in the lot opposite his dwelling home and she should receive reasonable compensation of his property until Antoine comes of age. His man Mulle is to live with the Tisdale family until son Antoine comes of age. Third he leaves his son Antoine all his property estate and fourth he asks Francis Tisdale and Hyacinth Lassalle to be his executors. Signed with a mark February 22, 1816. Hyacinth Lassalle files an objection against Francis Tisdale as the co-executor of Antoine Marshalls estate. General W. Johnston is called to testify that he wrote the will of Antoine Marshall and it was dictated to him by Hyacinth Lassalle and Jacque Rolland as Antoine Marshall stated at his bedside that he could not understand English well and it was translated to him in French to him and vice versa to General W. Johnston as he could not understand French. Testimony of General W. Johnston, Francois Mallet, Jacques Roland, and Angellic Mallet is taken and states that he, Jacques Rolland, Angellic Mallet, Eustache Gamblin, Antoine Druitt Richardville saw Antoine Marshall make the mark on the will. Robert Buntin Clerk on May 17, 1816 did file will to probate. On June 5, 1816 Hyacinth Lassalle files an objection, Joseph ONeille gives testimony as to Antoine Marshalls mental and physical condition at the time he signed the will. Peter Jones gives testimony, Hyacinth Lassalle, General W. Johnston. Truman Blackman posts a $200 bond to Francis Tisdale on October 12, 1816.
