James Medley vs James Sprowl

Description: James Medley filed a writ of trespass plus $500 damages against James Sprowl. A writ to jail and to bring to court is filed against James Sprowl on Oct 5, 1816. This is filed by R. Buntin, Clerk. On the back it states it was executed by Sheriff, B. V. Beckes. On October 12, 1817 the plaintiff by attorney George R. C. Sullivan, and Henry Hurst file a continuance. In May 1817 Henry Hurst attorney for the plaintiff states that on December 25, 1812, Joseph Clarke by his note on that date did acknowledge that amount was due to Samuel Tabis also known by the name of Samuel Toirs due 12 months after the date of the note $150 for value received but assigned over on July 23, 1815 by his agreement from James Sprowl for value received but assigned over on July 23, 1815 being the same amount owed to the plaintiff. The defendant refuses to pay. In September 1815 the plaintiff by attorney G. R. C. Sullivan and defendant attorney Jonathan Doty, the statement of defendant is he cant deny owing the money to James Medley in the amount of $205.60 in damages. The judgement is that defendant pay the sum of $205.60 costs and charges. The transcript is filed January 7, 1818 by R. Buntin C.C. K. C.
