On March 20, 1812 Ettienne Bizayon admin. of Francis Bizayon filed a Plea of Trespass against Pierre Bordeleau exec. of Antoine Bordeleau deceased, in the amount of $500. Robert Buntin is the Clerk, and General W. Johnston is the attorney for the plaintiff and Henry Hurst is attorney for the defendant, John J. Neely is the Deputy Sheriff. The date of trespass is May 1792, this is the date Antinne Bordeau became indebted to Francis Bizayon up to the date of Francis Bizayons death on October 10, 1800. Pierre Bordeleau states he does know that Antoine Bordeleau did owe said amount but that he does not have the goods or chattel to pay the debt of $500 plus $8.40 in damage. Sheriff James Crow testifies to the fact that Piere Bordeleau does not have the means to pay the bill. To pay the debt 48 acres of land, located in the Cathellinets near Vincennes are seized, property had once belonged to Antoine Bordeleau. A jury trial is held and a judgement was reached that the land must be sold to settle the debt. On Sept 15, 1812 the land was sold to Toussaint Dubois for $156. The deed of sale of 68 acres was given over to Toussant Dubois on August 15, 1813. |
