An account of payment to [Sheriff] P[armenas] Beckes from Knox County for repair work done to the jail for $16.53 1/2. Repairs and materials listed include: making 3 window shutters, putting on weatherboard, shingles and mending the roof, casing for a door, 2 1/2 pounds wrought nails, 2 1/2 pounds shingle nails, 2 sets hinges and staples, 2 staples for door, putting on a lock, 130 feet of poplar plank, making a new door for the entry, and 2 new padlocks. A load of firewood was added and subsequently subtracted. According to the Minute Book, the account was paid during the November term 1807. |
