This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Jabez Smith, dated September 25, 1879. Jabez first enlisted on April 16, 1861 as Captain in Company D 11th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was discharged on April 20, 1862. Jabez re-enlisted on August 1, 1862 as Captain in Company J 16th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry and resigned on August 9, 1863. Jabezs application was recommended by G. Ambrose. Examining Committee members were L. Burget and J.W. Haley. Applicant Elected, Mustered, Number on Des. Book, Adjutant, and Post Commander information omitted. |
