Rice McCormick GAR application

Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Rice S. McCormick, dated July 12, 1879. Rice first enlisted on July 2, 1981 as a Sergeant in Company C 8th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry Volunteers and was discharged on January 14, 1863. Rice re-enlisted on December 20, 1863 as a Private in Company C 8th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry Volunteers, was transferred in May 1865 (day omitted) to Company F 5th Regiment of the Veteran Reserve Corps and discharged on October 5, 1865. Rices application was recommended by Charles Brado. Examining Committee members were William H. Armstrong, L. Burget, and J.W. Haley. Applicant Elected, Mustered, Number on Des. Book, Adjutant, and Post Commander information omitted. NOTE: On Back of application states Morton Post No. 51 of Dept. Illinois and Indiana.
