Description:	This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Theodore Markle, dated 1879 (month / day omitted). Theodore first enlisted on July 6, 1861 as a Private in Company I 21st Regiment of the 1st Heavy Artillery and was discharged as a Sergeant Major on January 28, 1864. Theodore re-enlisted on January 29, 1864 as a Sergeant Major in Company M 21st Regiment of the 1st Heavy Artillery Indiana Veteran Volunteers and was discharged as 1st Lieutenant on January 10, 1866.
