Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of Charles H. Hughes, dated June 7, 1894. Charles first enlisted on May 29, 1862 as a Private in Company A 54th Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and was discharged on August 30, 1862. Charles re-enlisted on January 12, 1864 as a Private in the 20th Indiana Battery and was discharged on June 28, 1865. Charles application was recommended by Soloman R. Meader. Examining Committee members were Carl Krietenstein and Peter F. Zarger. Applicant Elected June 21, 1894 and Mustered July 5, 1894. No. on Des. Book: 688. James W. Haley, Adjutant; L.
