Description: This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of James D. Alexander, dated 1883. James first enlisted on October 19, 1961 as a Private in Company H, 43rd Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and was discharged as a Corporal on December 31, 1863. James re-enlisted on July 1, 1864 as a Corporal in Company H, 43rd Regiment of Indiana and was discharged as a Sargeant on June 23, 1865. Jamess application was recommended by Charles Krietenstein. M. C. Rankin, Post Commander. Examining Committee members were C. Krietenstein and William C. Armstrong. Applicant Mustered on May 8, 188?; Applicant Elected, No. on Des. Book, and Adjutant information omitted.
