This is the Grand Army of the Republic application of James D. Alexander, dated 1883. James first enlisted on October 19, 1961 as a Private in Company H, 43rd Regiment of the Indiana Volunteers and was discharged as a Corporal on December 31, 1863. James re-enlisted on July 1, 1864 as a Corporal in Company H, 43rd Regiment of Indiana and was discharged as a Sargeant on June 23, 1865. Jamess application was recommended by Charles Krietenstein.
