Description: |
A first person account correcting the assumption that a Confederate scout named Smith was captured by Lieutenant Colonel Redfield of the 16th Indiana. Wilkins claims that his diary entry from that incident says that he, himself captured "Scout Smith" and that he personally turned him over to Redfield after tricking the Confederate into walking right into his Union camp. Wilkins Claims that Redfield did capture the Confederate scout's escort the next day and that the mistake was easy to make as both Confederate men were Redfield's prisoners in the morning. |
