"Historical Treasure" article, William B. Rippetoe Saber and Pistol, April 14, 1861

Description: A Historical Treasure article featuring a photograph and information on a saber and pistol that belonged to First Lieutenant William B. Rippetoe. The saber is made from Solingen steel a high quality German made steel. Its guard is brass and features the letters U.S. and an eagle holding a ribbon with Latin phrases on it. The pistol was one of the first revolving cartridge models made in America. It was made by Smith and Wesson in 1855. Rippetoe entered the Union army on April 14, 1861.
