Wabash Valley Profiles, Captain Jonathan B. Hage. Hager was born in July of 1822 in Hagerstown, Maryland. His father owned Terre Hautes first brewery until it was destroyed by fire. Hager attended West Point Academy before returning to Terre Haute in 1842 to found an insurance business. On April 23, 1861, Hager volunteered and helped from the 14th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment at Camp Vigo. He served through the Civil War and helped found and operate the Terre Haute Car & Manufacturing Company until his death on August 28, 1885. |
