A portrait of Colonel Richard Wigginton Thompson of Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on June 9, 1809 in Virginia. He is pictured with a suit long coat, a bow tie, white under shirt and a rolled up piece of parchment. In the background is a print with a 3-D pillar design. The title of Colonel was given him by the governor of the State of Indiana in 1835, Thompson never served in a combat role. In 1843, Thompson relocated to Terre Haute, Indiana after serving in Congress. He chose to follow his law practice rather than run for another term. Thompson died on February 9th, 1900. |
