Description: |
This newspaper photograph shows the start of a horse race in Terre Haute, Indiana. Caption reads, Theyre Off--Starter Walter Giese sends a fleet field of pacers on their way in the 23-class pace, one of the top features in a fine program of horse racing at the Vigo County Fair yesterday. Giese quickly draws away from the horses after they cross the starting lineup and collapses the gate high on the first turn before the field reaches this point. In the above race, Penny Widower, owned by Clyde Kane of Galatia, Illinois, and driven by Jake Foster, made a sensational rally to win the heat. |
