On October 22, 1840 at dusk in an Indiana forest, Father Buteux leads six weary Providence missionaries to a log cabin chapel. Mother Theodore would later explain: We had agreed among ourselves that our first visit would be made to the Blessed Sacrament.For Mother Theodore and Sisters St. Vincent Ferrer, Olympiade, Mary Xavier, Basilide and Mary Ligouri, it is journeys end, but it is also a beginning - the beginning of the American Foundation of the Sisters of Providence. |
