Description: |
Mother Anastasie Brown was the third general superior of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. She served between 1868 and 1874. Her term of office coincided with the Panic of 1873, which contributed to financial challenges for the Congregation. After her leadership role, Mother Anastasie was a witness in the Cause for Mother Theodore Guerin. As a young girl at the Academy and during her first 12 years in the Congregation, Mother Anastasie knew Mother Theodore. |
