Description: A letter from Lobell General Hospital in Portsmouth Grove, RI, dated June 1, 1865. The letter is from George W. Kuernes, surgeon general. The letter informs the Commanding Officer of Company K of the 80th Indiana Infantry that some of his men are patients at the hospital and that they will be released from the hospital when they are, "fit for field service."
