A typescript of a letter written by John Bostick while he was stationed in New Orleans during the Civil War. The letter was found in the Saratoga Citizen newspaper in California. In the letter, John tells his mother that he is safe and that he had never seen so much rain. He tells her that he and his regiment traveled to New Orleans on a ship and the ship was so crowded that a lot of men became sick. He also tells her that when his service is over, he would like to head home for a while and visit with her. The letter is dated July 6, 1865. |
