Jackson Hill Mine tipple

Description:	I found the attached picture among old pictures of my mothers, Evelyn Faulds Royse. Her father was Thomas Wilson Faulds. He, as did many members of the Faulds family, worked in many coal mines in Vermillion, Vigo and Sullivan Counties. My mother wrote on the back of the picture “Jackson Hill Mine.” No mention is made as to which Jackson Hill Mine this might be; there were several as I recall. I do recall that Jackson Hill Mine #6 was mentioned from time to time during family conversations and this may well be that mine. I do not know when the picture was taken, but looking at the automobiles in the picture I would venture a guess that it was probably taken sometime in the 1930’s. Mike Royse
