Knox County court record for Spradley vs. Abner Scott and wife, 1815

Description: Folder 1489 in Box 23 of Knox County Circuit Court records at the Knox County Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House holds 7 documents in the case Spradley (Dici, Dyce) vs. Abner Scott and wife. This folder contains a complaint by Dici Spradley against Abner and Patsey Scott and is related to file 14 in Box 22 of Knox County Circuit Court records. Documents refer to Dici’s “next friend Scion Morris” who it appears represented Dici. As in the case of US vs. Martha Scott (folder 1473-3 in Box 23 of Knox County Circuit Court records) a document shows Abner and Patsey Scott attempting to persuade the court that Ft. Allison was not under the jurisdiction of Knox Countyas it was in the Illinois (Ellinois) Territory. A filing by Johnston (first name missing) on behalf of Dici disputes that. In addition to a list of court costs, three summonses include the names Lydia Allison, Jane Allison, Julia Kuykendall and John Morris.
