Knox County probate record for Christian Brown, 1838

A file containing probate records for Christian Brown is housed in the Probate Records section, Box 24 at the Knox County (IN) Public Library’s McGrady-Brockman House. An administrator’s notice printed in the Vincennes Gazette dated October 26, 1838 names John K, Kurtz as administrator and says “Said estate is probably solvent.” A notice published on the same date for an administrator’s sale to take place on November 10 at the “Last Resort” in Vincennes. That sale included clock maker’s tools. Books and wearing apparel. Also included are a hand-written bond and a bill to the estate for funeral expenses. There’s also a bill for medical treatment as well as an inventory of the estate and accompanying bill of sale. A large number of books were part of the estate, as well as a large and a small pistol. |
