Bookmark with picture of lantern on hook, snow-topped, with ornate printing saying that hope bookmarks use will bring the absent sender to mind. Signed by Jake Gimbel. Sent to (Judge) Curtis Shake for Christmas in 1914. Jake (Jacob) Gimbel began the Gimbel Bond Company in Vincennes, Indiana then it went national after a move to Chicago. He became the mentor and financed the education of a young Curtis Shake, who became world famous as the Judge at the Nuremberg, Germany trails of the top Nazis criminals after World War II. |
