On right is famous Pantheon Theatre, which still exist, (now being restored) featuring the movie A Girl, a Guy and a Gob, staring Lucille Ball. Two doors down is H. J. Werker Drugs with fountain service. Taken in the early 1940s, looking towards the Wabash River. On left is Millers Cafe with finest foods and air cooled. Six shoppers on sidewalk in front of Millers. Period cars parked filling every space on both sides of the street. Scaffolding and steel frame, in the middle, is on an empty lot and was put up in 1929 to build a hotel, nothing was ever built there and it was dismantled in 1942. During those 13 years it became known as the Fresh (or Open) Air Hotel |
