A letter from George Gegner to his future wife, Lizze Wayman, dated December 27, 1864. Gegner was stationed near Columbia, Tennessee at the time he wrote the letter. George tells Lizzie that his Regiment moved their camp to a nicer place near Columbia, Tennessee and that they were having nice weather. He also tells her that his Regiment fought at Nashville but he didnt go into the details because he said she most likely read about the hight in the newspaper. George describes to Lizzie how he spent his holiday and that he read over old letter that she had sent him. He also tells her that he was suffering from a bad cold but that their other friends were doing well. George closes the letter by wishing her a Happy New Year. |
