A letter from George Gegner to his future wife, Lizzie Wayman, dated April 17, 1864. Gegner was stationed in Bridgeport, Alabama at the time he wrote the letter. In the letter, George tells Lizzie that he was recovering from a cold. He also lets her know how much he misses her and that he carries a photograph of her wherever he goes. George also writes that he cant wait until he is a war veteran and Lizze can make supper for him and the other veterans in their neighborhood. He also thanked her for paper that she sent him and asked her to send him more if she could. George also asked Lizzie how all of their friends were doing and to send them and her family his regards. |
