Description: 316THE NORMAL ADVANCEClass of 1900To The Class of 1900
Greetings :Through the door of memory which every commencement opens,we pass again to the bitter-sweet days Avhen we, too, were leavingdear friends and associations
to the days when Ave, too, Avereleaving irresponsibility and pleasure and going out into the worldto put into execution our plans and dreams, conceived in the en-Adronment of high ideals. These plans and dreams become themolding influence of our lives. They were unselfish and had thehappiness and betterment of all mankind as their theme. Howfaithfully we have kept them and how far AAe have gone towardthe goal we set for ourselves only each member of the class in-dividually can answer. We are too young yet to have attained, eA7en in a small measure,to the place we planned to occupy or the good we thought to do.We are just beginning to know the joy of doing. All have foundthat the larger responsibilities and opportunities of life bring thedeeper pleasures.None would go back to the days Avhen Ave Avere seniors, yet forcourage, inspiration and new ideals Ave often need to live againthis purpose-giving period of our lives. In that spirit we are able to see more clearly the dutiesthe world has for men and women avIio have drunk from the fountain of high ideals and truepurposes. So may Ave not from the spirit of this commencement time receive fresh inspiration and a newdetermination to fulfill the ideals with Avhich we began nine years ago ?My best wishes to the class. May they all feel the satisfaction that comes from the knoAvledgeof work well begun.Sincerely yours,O. P. Dellinger.Roll CallO. P. DELLINGER, 00Head of Biological Department,Winona Lake, Ind.1.
