Greeting :Nothing could give greater pleasure to the one Avhose privilegeit is to express these few Avords of greeting than for some magicpower to turn back the hands of time to that historic year 97 andbe permitted to meet and comingle once more with the membersof this famous class. We can easily forget the grammar, historyand methods which we learned, but time can not efface the pleasant recollections of classmates. You recall with pleasure theuses to which Ave put the assembty room, other than for examinations. And now after these years, though we are scattered afar,let us join hands and hearts, in thought at least, and liATe againthose pleasant days. May a happy life and success be your lot,Avherever you may be and whatever may be your calling, Avhetherin the school room, on the farm, in the halls of Congress or in thekitchen. And heres to the Advance, Avhicli is doing so much tomake it possible for the alumni to keep in touch with each otherand with our Alma Mater.Edavin M. Bruce.To The Class oe 97:TAvelve busy years haA^e passed since Ave left our Alma Mater asgraduates. The time seems so short, but hoAV much has come intoour lives since then! An examination of the directory of graduates shows that our numbers are scattered far and Avide. Manyare in our home state, several are in other states, a few are inforeign lands and three, Mrs. Jeanette Winbigler Kerlin, MissIda Stocker and Mr. Charles Baffin, have passed from earthsscenes to the realization of the ideal of ideals of man.As county superintendent during the past ten years and as amember of the Indiana State Board of Education during the pastfive and one-half years, I have had the opportunity of seeingsomething of the great work of our educational institutions, andI can say that our Alma Mater stands among the foremost inmolding the educational policies of our commoiiAvealth.A great work has been wrought by the Avorkers in the publicschools, but there is much that remains to be done.
