THE NORMAL ADVANCE285When Dr. J. M. Stephenson speaks, he will remind us of the first class in music in the Normalschool and hoAv diligently Prof. Anton Shide tried to make soloists of us. He might reproduce asample for our delectation. Many are the incidents this class would be glad to relate but the first bell has sounded in thehall and Ave must soon begin the prosy struggle of another quarter of a century, but there wasneA-er a happier company of young people left the halls of the Indiana State Normal than theclass of 1883. We only have iavo regrets, viz: that Ave can no longer furnish model themes forthe seniors, and that several of our class never succeeded in Assembly-room Avork. Finally it is sad to notice that in the roll call four at least did not respond, J. M. BroAvn, P. H.Hirsch, Laura Ray, and Carrie D. Monicai, who was so sorely afflicted, but Avho >vas the idol ofthe class and whose influence was like a gentle riA7er floAving through the green meadow.A. R. Charman.Roll Call1. J. M.
