Description: THE NORMAL ADVANCE151About the best game which the Teachers
played on the home floor was the one with
Earlham which resulted in a 24 to 21 score
with Normal on the long end. This was by far
the fastest game played by Normal in the
Normal gym and was one of the fastest college
games played in the city during the season. In
the first half, we assumed the lead and main¬
tained it throughout but at the start of the sec¬
ond period the Quakers came back strong and
soon took the lead. It was only a remarkable
burst of speed toward the end of the conflict
that put it on the right of the book. The re¬
sults of all the games played are as follows:Normal, 57

points to 351 for the opponents. All attention is now being centered upon
baseball, and from the present outlook we
should have a baseball team that will equal if
not better the record of our basketball five. Many of the last years stars have already
signed up while the recruits are a promising
lot. Among the old heads who have already
signed up are Crim, Clarke, Hogue, Knauthand Merker, while the following last years
men will enter in time for play: Brown, Moore,
Bayh, Brewer, Fortner, Wissel and Mussel-
man.The pitching end of the argument is ex¬
pected to be upheld in great shape by Crim,
Fortner, Moore and Wissel. Every position is
sought by members of last years combination,
but the recruits will be given a chance to show.
Manager R. A. Hoffman expects the teachers
to land high in the state race this season. There is not a single position cinched on the
team and the best men will be selected regard¬
less of past history. The school is going out for
the state championship this season and we ex¬
pect to see the teachers win. The prospects are
that several of the old heads will not land
steady berths unless they get in the thickest and
fight.A training table will be instituted so that
the men will always be fit to give their team
their best efforts. The team will be provided
with new uniforms and Parsons Field will be
gone over before the opening contest. The band
of 15 pieces organized some weeks ago will be
secured to furnish music at the home games. The schedule arranged by Manager Hoffman
calls for 14 games, the first being slated for
April 15 with Indiana U. at Bloomington. The
season will end June 10 with the E. I. S. N.
team opposing the teachers at Parsons Field.
The schedule:April 15—Indiana University at Blooming¬
ton.April 18—E. I. S. N. at Charleston, 111.April 25—Butler at Parsons Field.May 1—Franklin at Franklin.May 9—DePauw at Parsons Field.May 16-^-Franklin at Parsons Feild.May 20—Moores Hill at Parsons Field.May 23—Earlham at Parsons Field.May 25—DePauw at Greencastle.
