David Thompsons transcribed account of the legend of Stiffy Green as collected by Micah Johnson. According to the legend, Stiffy was a dog who was stuffed and placed in his masters tomb upon his masters death. Supposedly, emeralds were put in place of his eyes, and people reported seeing the eyes glow if they approached the tomb at night. The mausoleum is located in Highland Lawn Cemetery in Vigo County, Indiana. |
